Centurion - Evolution of the Wake Boat

Wake surfing is in our DNA. Our evolution has come from the desire to build the best water sports towboats on the market, to understand what our customers want, and to deliver unmatched performance. Instead of designing something and trying to convince you it’s what you need, we respond and deliver what you want. That’s how we came to build boats with the world’s best waves, wakes, ride and fuel efficiency. We didn’t have to force our design, it grew out of these ideas naturally. Take a deeper dive to understand the components that make everything about Centurion work so well. It’s a symphony, not a jazz ensemble.

Fuel Efficiency

The incredible fuel efficiency of Centurion Boats – up to 50% more than comparable boats – is largely due to the design of our Opt-V hull. The hull, which has the v to slice through water, also has lift at the back of the boat that flattens the running attitude and enables it to cut through the water with the sharpest part of its keel. This eliminates the resistance created when excessive bow rise causes the boat to push water instead of slicing through it. In turn, this prevents the engine from working harder than necessary.

Opti-V Hull

The deep-v running surface, by its very design, created large wakes and waves. Back in the ‘90s when wake sports were beginning to become popular, most towboat companies were still focused on their main customer base and those were people who wanted flat wakes for water skiing. Centurion Boats recognized the increasing interest in wake surfing and looked to the deep-v to find a way to generate larger wakes. By changing the hull to a modified deep-v they were able to generate wakes and when the boat leaned, as deep-vs tended to do, they created curl in the waves. The leaning tendency was not ideal though, and the consistency of the large wakes was hard to maintain. That’s when the Opti-V design was born. Released mid-model year of 2017 on the Ri257, the Opti-V running surface preserved the smooth rough water ride of the deep-v design, displaced more water with less ballast weight and produced a World Championship level surf wave.

Ballast

Centurion wants everyone to enjoy being on the water, so we approach ballast differently from other companies. All of the ballast available in Centurion boats (up to seven precisely placed hidden ballast locations that combine for up to 5850 pounds of ballast) is evenly distributed. Placed under the hull, it doesn’t interfere with storage, or interior space. And because it goes along the length of the hull it creates longer waves. In the case of the Ri265 the wave extends more than 26 feet behind the boat. These large subfloor tanks on each side of the lounge also create consistent push from the face to the curl.

The Wave

Centurion boats don’t just create a sweet spot for water sports, which is usually just off the back of the swimstep. Unlike other towboats, Centurion offers a spectrum of surfable power, from the curl all the way up to the face of the wave. Athletes know when they have found the sweet spot in their sport, whether it’s golf, tennis, or cycling. Surfers know when they drop into a wave if they’re in the right place to get a great ride. It’s the same with surfing behind a boat and with our evenly distributed ballast the length of the hull, Centurion has designed boats that extend that wave well beyond the length of waves behind most boats. It’s more than 26 feet long and that gives surfers plenty of room to experiment.

Ri vs Fi

Performance riders look no further than the powerful Fi Series, built with you in mind. Those who prefer a touch of luxury with their performance will find a perfect match in the Ri Series models.

Supreme - Surf / Wake / Ride / Repeat

At Supreme we are committed to making boats that enable you to surf, wake, ride and repeat without worry or concern. We’re committed to making life better by elevating the towboat ownership experience. We see Supreme boats as an investment in a family’s joy, peace of mind and ultimately, a tool for positive change in their lives. With that in mind, it is our responsibility to handle each boat and each buyer with extreme care. We do that so you have only one task to do – have fun! This is a company with a passion for building boats. As our customer, you are like family, and we want only the best for our families.

Fuel Efficiency

It started with the lift created by the leveling pads on the rear corners of the running surface. These reduce resistance on the hull in the water and less resistance naturally requires less power, and less fuel, to push the boat at any speed. The level front-to-back running attitude of Supreme even at surfing and wakeboarding speeds creates less resistance along with less stress on the engine. The reduced stress in turn results in considerably less engine noise than other boats. This is because the engine is not working as hard to pull that rider, even fully loaded with ballast. By shifting ballast options to be evenly distributed throughout the boat, we keep the boat level and the resistance down. The difference is noticeable when you are in the boat, especially when you want to have a conversation.

Deep V Hull

It is no secret that Supreme builds boats with superior surfability. But you may not realize that the reason our boats can produce such amazing wake is the modified deep-v hull design built into the Tapered-V and new EZ-V running surfaces. It beats a flat hull every time when it comes to shaping wakes to the specifications you want for your performance. With double the degree of V (20 degrees of deadrise) of our competitors, our modified deep-v starts at water level and creates a smooth rough-water ride. The ‘modified’ piece of this design adds balance to the hull to guard against side-to-side weight shift negatively impacting the water behind the boat. Surfability is expanded further in our ZS models with the Tapered-V Hull design, which seats the rear of the boat lower in the water when it is weighted, creating more water displacement with less weight and intensifying the waves and wakes produced.

Ballast

The idea of creating waves using ballast has been around for years now. But not all ballast options are created equal. We distribute our ballast options evenly throughout the boat for a low bow rise smooth ride and to displace the entire running surface, not just portions of it. The result is a nice, long wave with consistent push from face to curl. This also gives you options for finding your surfing sweet spot - whether you prefer to be right behind the boat or 20 feet back. With our QuickSurf, Zero Off Speed Control, Stinger Wake Plate or new Silent Stinger, you have unmatched control over every height, length and shape of the wave.

The Wave

Supreme boats can accommodate your specific needs, whether you are just learning to surf or have perfected your style, with our adjustable ballast options. Depending on which boat you choose, we offer up to 4900 pounds of ballast in as many as six locations, evenly distributed throughout the hull. Each ballast option can be individually pumped to help you dial-in your perfect wave. The ballast, combined with our available QuickSurf system, which creates lift opposite the surf side of the boat and displaces the surf corner, forms the wave. Wave style can be adjusted with the Stinger Wake Plate or Silent Stinger option and with the Zero Off Speed Control you pick the height, length and shape of the wave. What does this mean to your performance? Simply put, our waves can grow with you. Start out with smaller waves and find your comfort zone. Increase the size as your expertise grows and you want to push your limits. It’s up to you, thanks to the flexibility of our system.
