The Story of River Valley

The River Valley Power and Sport story all started with a 10 year old boy, his lawn mower, and a strong work ethic. John Wooden, owner of RVPS, proved at a young age that he had the determination, perseverance and knowledge to grow his own business into what it is today.  From mowing lawns at a young age and throughout high school to employing his friends while he attended college to study business, to developing a landscape business which then evolved into a retail aspect which included lawn and garden and power sport lines, John had a love for business.

After many successful years in the retail business, John and his wife Carrie, who both enjoyed the boating lifestyle, made the decision to add the marine niche to their retail offerings. With Minnesota being the land of 10,000 lakes- sales took off!  Lines and brands were acquired, locations were added including Red Wing, Rochester and Lake Minnetonka, the number of employees grew and ultimately, the RVPS family of customers has grown to what it is today!  What a journey selling FUN has been!

River Valley Marine sells 11 different marine brands, adding a lot of diversification to the company; AlumaCraft Fishing Boats, Bennington Pontoons, BlackFin Fishing Boats, Centurion & Supreme Tow Boats, Cobalt Boats, Chris-Craft Boats, Monterey Boats, Sea-Doo Water Crafts, Sea Pro Fishing Boats, and Yamaha Jet Boats.

River Valley Power & Sport sells 6 different powersport brands that include on road, off road, and snowmobile vehicles; CanAm, Honda, Polaris, Ski-Doo, Suzuki, and Yamaha.

River Valley Power & Sport -- Marine has won many various awards over the last 26 years.

Just in this last year alone we were one of Boating Industry's Top 20 Dealers in North America, the Largest Marine Group in Minnesota, Yamaha's Midwest Dealer of the Year, Top 10 Dealer of Centurion Boats, one of Bennington's Top 5 Dealers by Dollars, and the Largest Yamaha Boat Dealer.  A lot to be proud of and continue to strive for!

Aside from all the growth and the success of this company over the last 26 years, the thing we are most proud of is the many memories we give to our customers to share with their families.  At the end of the day, we sell fun and there is nothing else we would rather do!
